Kevadiya Colony : The world’s highest statue has been unveiled in honor of Vallabhbhai Patel, the country’s first home minister and Sardar. The two Indian companies together have prepared the Statue of Unity in 45 months.
The world’s highest (182-meter) statue has been made by two country companies. About 2,979 crore was spent to build this statue, most of which was given by the Gujarat government. However, the Central Government also provided help for this project.
The Gujarat government also constituted a trust for this. The responsibility of Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel National Integration Trust was the whole creation process. 250 engineers and 3400 workers of Sardar Sarovar Narmada Corporation Limited, together with the country’s largest infrastructure company Larsen & Toubro (L & T), have prepared this statue in 3 years and 9 months together. The Statue of Unity, 182 meters (597 feet) high is the world’s tallest statue. After this, the Spring Buddha Temple (153 meters) of China is the world’s tallest statue. Japan’s Ushiku Daibatsu (120 meters) and America’s Statue of Liberty (93 meters) is the number.

In this statue, about 24 thousand tonnes of iron (steel) has been used. Stage of 5,700 metric tons i.e. about 57 lakh kilograms of structural steel is used to make 'Statue of Unity'. Also 18,500 metric ton rods have been used. 18 thousand 500 tonnes of steel foundation and 6,500 tonnes of steel sculpture. Can handle 180 kilometers per hour wind speed. The amazing view of engineering is also found in the base of this statue. Footpots wearing sandals are shown in the base of the statue. There is a gap of about 6.4 meters between the two legs. This statue can easily stand in the 6.5-Richter earthquake.
This statue is located at a distance of 3.5 kilometers from the Sardar Sarovar dam on Narmada river. A bridge has been prepared from the road to reach this statue built on Sadhus Hill. Along with this, two lift has been installed on both sides for the convenience of tourists, which will show up to 7 kms from the top.
