Ahwa (Dang) : Handpumps will be history in Gujarat, said chief minister Vijay Rupani. Chief Minister Vijay Rupani has expressed his commitment to build an infrastructure to fight water-borne diseases and commit to make handpumps free Gujarat by providing clean drinking water to remote areas of the state, including remote villages. In this regard, Vijay Rupani said that the state government has launched a campaign to provide pure tap water to all through water supply schemes with a strong plan to provide salt-free, fluoride-free water to all. With the completion of the water supply scheme a total of Rs. 75 crore development works were given in a single day. The Chief Minister said that this government has come up with a timely plan at a cost of crores of rupees so that people do not have to travel long distances to fetch water due to water scarcity. He added that like riot-free, toilet-free Gujarat, now we have to make Gujarat free from water borne diseases and provide pure water at home. The Chief Minister said that the Water Supply Department in Gujarat has taken intensive steps to ensure that every household gets tap water under ‘Nal Se Jal’. Efforts are being made to provide 95 lakh tap connections, including in rural areas.
Giving the role of realizing 100% tap water in all the villages of the state before 20 years, the Chief Minister said that despite the per capita expenditure being higher than other areas of the state to supply water to the scattered villages and suburbs like Dang, the state government has made special provision. It is planned to supply pure water to the area. Concerned about the maternal and child mortality rate, the Chief Minister said that a “Blood Center” has been set up in Dang district at a cost of Rs 1.5 crore from a grant from the Tribal Development Department, citing various development works of the government in the “Corona period”. The Minister appealed for public cooperation in the coming days, giving an idea of the government’s plans with various development works.
