Ahmedabad: Gujarat successfully won the battle with Tauktae, said CM Vijay RupaniChief Minister Vijay Rupani said that Gujarat has come out from the war-like situation with cyclone Tauktae because of advance planning, foresight, and active efforts of the youngest employees of the state government starting from the ministers and unprecedented cooperation of the people of Gujarat. Addressing the media at the State Emergency Operations Center here this evening, Chief Minister Vijay Rupani said that all government departments would start war-based restoration and relief operations in the districts affected by the cyclone. In the next two days, the situation will be restored. He also said that with the approach of ‘Zero Casualty, the state government had carried out the entire planning, the nature of the humble efforts of the state government has also been taken care of this, and even in such severe storms, only 13 persons have lost their lives. Most of the deaths are due to accidents. Vijay Rupani said that Gujarat successfully won a battle and also said from tomorrow, the concerned departments of the state government will start a detailed survey of the damage in the affected districts. At the initial stage, a survey will be conducted on the damage to houses, agriculture, animal husbandry, and fisheries. Officials from neighboring districts will also be involved in the survey work in the districts where special damage has been done so that the work can be done quickly. He said that immediate payment of cash dolls, housing assistance, and other financial assistance to all eligible persons as per government norms would be undertaken. Chief Minister Vijay Rupani said that due to the precautionary measures taken by the state government, patients in not a single Covid Hospital in Gujarat have faced any problem. Out of a total of 425 covid hospitals in Gujarat, 122 covid hospitals were in cyclone-hit areas. Out of these, power supply was disrupted in 83 hospitals, however, power supply was not disrupted even for a moment as all the hospitals had pre-arranged generator sets and diesel. Chief Minister Vijay Rupani today held a video conference with the collectors of Gir Somnath, Bhavnagar, Amreli, Junagadh, Porbandar, Surendranagar, Botad, Ahmedabad, and Gandhinagar districts most affected by the cyclone to get details. The power supply was disrupted in 5,951 villages in the state and by Tuesday evening, power supply had been restored in 2,101 of them. Instructions have been given to hold an urgent meeting with the mobile companies to restore communication in the storm-hit areas and to make efforts to restore mobile towers and all necessary infrastructure by tomorrow evening.

Vijay Rupani said the entire administration would carry out restoration and relief operations for the next two days. The health department has been instructed to prevent the spread of water-borne diseases in rural and urban areas after the cyclone. Teams from the health department will also conduct health surveys in the cyclone-hit areas. Due to the need for large-scale clean-up in all areas, a large number of cleaners are being sent from the municipal areas like Surat, Rajkot, and Jamnagar to the hurricane-hit areas. The clean-up operation is scheduled to start tomorrow morning. Vijay Rupani said the cyclone had caused less damage to summer crops but good damage to crops like mango and coconut. The State Government will conduct a survey of all losses and further decisions will be taken as per the norms.
