Gandhinagar : Healthy country is possible with healthy citizens said, Head of UNICEF Prashanta Das. A one-day training-workshop on “Communicate to Advocate on Nutrition Campaign” was organized at GIFT City, Gandhinagar to further familiarize the Information Officers with modern technology-based dissemination methods. KK Nirala, Secretary, Department of Women and Child Development, gave a motivational address on the occasion. Secretary K. K. Nirala said in the workshop of the Nutrition Campaign that media is a powerful medium of presentation today. Media is an important organ for change in society. The nutrition campaign can be made effective only with the coordination of various departments of the government. Nutrition campaign is not only limited to women and child development, we can do effective and better work by coordinating different departments. Giving detailed information about the nutrition campaign, Nirala explained about the various stages of nutrition. Referring to the Prime Minister’s Sauno Saath, Sauno Vikas, he highlighted the participation and performance of various departments in the Nutrition Campaign. He added that positive stories give collective inspiration to the society. Children are the future builders of the country, it is our responsibility to take care of their nutrition. They appealed to participate in the nutrition campaign saying that every word in communication is a future maker, it will bring change in the society.

Communication plays an important role in solving any problem that is happening in the society. He elaborated on the characteristics of a good press note as well as its effective role in advocacy under nutrition campaigns. Congratulating the newly appointed officers and employees of the Information Department, he lauded the dissemination work of the Department.

Prashanta Das, Head of UNICEF, Gujarat, while giving detailed information on nutrition, said that a healthy country is built with healthy citizens. He said that it is especially necessary to change the attitude of the society about breast feeding and complementary nutrition. He highlighted the responsibility of men in child care and elaborated on the concept of positive parenting. Senior journalist Shweta Kothari said in this workshop that it is very important that the right message reaches the society in communication. With the change in media, he made the audience understand the importance of short and perfect content.

Various technical sessions were held for better publicity. In this training workshop, social media expert Amit Panchal gave detailed information about social media communication. Kavita Sharma, Nutrition Specialist of UNICEF gave an understanding about the physical and mental development of the child. She also informed about the role of media in spreading awareness about nutrition. ICDS officer Shraddha Sharma gave a detailed overview of the government’s schemes including the Chief Minister’s Matrashakti Yojana for women and child nutrition. At the beginning of the training, UNICEF Communication Specialist Moira Dawa gave an outline of the training and gave guidance on the widespread use of publicity including the role of social media in today’s times. At the end of the training, a vote of thanks was given by Jigar Khunt, Deputy Director of Information (News and Media Relations Branch). Additional Director of Information Arvind Patel was present in this one day training and encouraged the officers and employees.
