Ahmedabad : As part of Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani’s compassionate decision to  provide ration free-of-cost only for the month of April-2020 during lockdown to check spread of novel coronavirus, over 59-lakh or 90 per cent of the eligible 66-lakh families holding Antyodaya and PHH cards took benefit of the scheme on the first four days. Vijay Rupani had directed the Food & Civil Supplies Department to disburse adequate quantity of wheat, rice, pulses, sugar and salt under the National Food Security Act to ensure that no poor, Shramjeevi or Antyodaya family go to bed hungry. According to Chief Minister’s Secretary Ashwini Kumar, nearly 3.40-lakh poor families covered under NFSA will get adequate quantity of wheat, rice and pulses, besides sugar and salt, only for the month of April-2020. He said that extremely poor migrant workers from other states who come to Gujarat for job will also get food grains kit free-of-cost under Annapurna Yojna now on only for the month of April-2020 from the 17,000 fair price shops in the state. The district collectors have prepared the list of target groups for respective districts. On the eleventh day of the 21-day lockdown, he said, 47.11 lakh liters of milk, 88,074 quintal of vegetables and 11,559 quintal of fruits were distributed today. He said that meals were served to 36.58-lakh old, destitute and lonely people in the state with the collaboration of voluntary organizations. The state level Helpline-1070 and district-level Helpline-1077 received 19,501 calls.  Around 2.35-lakh passes were issued to small and big traders and hawkers so far.
