Gandhinagar : Need active cooperation of media in context of SWEEP said, chief electoral officer P.Bharti. As the general election of Gujarat Assembly is going to be held in the near future, efforts are being made by the office of the Chief Electoral Officer to ensure that maximum voters exercise their right to vote, as part of that, a meeting was held under the chairmanship of Chief Electoral Officer P. Bharti with Inter Media Publicity Coordination Committee (IMPCC). In a meeting of the Inter Media Publicity Coordination Committee comprising senior officials of the media including Press Information Bureau, Doordarshan, All India Radio, Rashtriya Seva Yojana, Nehru Yuva Kendra, Office of the Director of Information, Chief Electoral Officer P. Bharti reviewed the activities being done for voter awareness.

Besides MoUs with various government departments, discussed issues including voter registration and voter-oriented facilities among special groups of voters like Divyang, Nomadic caste, Agariya and third gender. In this meeting, officials including Director and Deputy Director of News Department of Doordarshan, Deputy Director of All India Radio made various suggestions for voter awareness. On this occasion, the Chief Electoral Officer appealed to the media and said, there is a need for active cooperation in the context of SVEEP i.e. Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation. Suggestions on how these mediums can help increase voter turnout by addressing voter apathy, particularly in special groups and urban areas, were also welcomed. In this meeting, Regional Bureau of Communication Additional Director General Prakash Magdum and Joint Chief Electoral Officer A.B. Patel and media cell officials were present.
