Gandhinagar : Singapore High commissioner met CM Vijay Rupani at Gandhinagar. Chief Minister Vijay Rupani met High Commissioner of Singapore Simon Wong and a high level delegation in Gandhinagar. The High Level Delegation is in Gujarat for the final phase of preparations to set up an office of the Singapore Stock Exchange in Gift City, Gujarat by the end of April 2021. The Chief Minister gladly accepted the invitation extended by the High Commissioner of Singapore to inaugurate his office. In his interaction with the high-level delegation, Chief Minister Vijay Rupani expressed his commitment to develop Gift City on the lines of Singapore and Dubai for the establishment of a world class investment destination for financial and technology companies. Vijay Rupani also said that Gujarat is one of the leading foreign investment receiving states in India. Not only that, Singapore is the second largest FDI inflow in Gujarat.

During the meeting with the Chief Minister, Singapore High Commissioner Simon Wong also made it clear that the opening of the Stock Exchange in Gift City would give a new impetus to other subsidiaries in Singapore. Giving the role of investments of Singapore’s companies-industrial units, Simon said that in the last financial year, 1 billion US dollars FDI have been made in the state. He also gave details of some well-known Singaporean companies, including global leader in the renewable energy sector, Sembcorp Industries, which has commissioned a renewable (wind) energy project in Kutch. In a conversation with Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, the High Commissioner also said that various Singaporean companies are keen to invest in Gujarat’s food processing, housing, fisheries and financial services sectors. Simon also expressed enthusiasm for the visit of the Singapore-Gujarat business delegation. He added that Singapore’s Minister of Industry and Commerce would lead his delegation for this purpose. In this meeting with the Chief Minister, Additional Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister and Additional Chief Secretary of Industry M. K. Das Industry Commissioner Rahul Gupta as well as Index-B Managing Director Nilam Rani were also present.
