Ahmedabad : UP is making a major push to become a top pharmaceutical investment destination. The Uttar Pradesh State Industrial Development Authority (UPSIDA), in collaboration with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), hosted a high-profile roadshow in Ahmedabad on Friday. The event, themed “Investment Opportunities in Uttar Pradesh’s Pharmaceutical Landscape,” brought together pharma executives, government officials, and investors. Attendees explored emerging opportunities in India’s heartland.

UPSIDA highlighted the state’s flagship initiative—a state-of-the-art Bulk Drug Pharma Park in Lalitpur district, sprawling over 1,472 acres. To begin with, the state will invest ₹250 crore initially in the park. Furthermore, it aims to attract over ₹12,000 crore in private investment. In addition, the project is expected to create jobs for about 14,000 people. Finally, Mayur Maheshwari, UPSIDA CEO, emphasized, “The pharma park is a key step in making India the ‘Pharmacy of the World.’

The roadshow began with a film presentation showcasing Uttar Pradesh’s robust logistics network, industrial corridors, and pro-business policies. Furthermore, officials emphasized the ease of doing pharma business in the state, highlighting streamlined processes enabled by a Single Window Clearance System. Additionally, Dr. G.N. Singh, Advisor to the Chief Minister, remarked, “Uttar Pradesh is fast becoming India’s top choice for pharmaceutical investment.”

A lively Open House session let attendees engage directly with policy-makers. Business-to-Government (B2G) meetings allowed deeper talks on investment and regulations.

The session opened with CII Gujarat Pharma Panel Convenor and Senores Pharmaceuticals CEO, Swapnil Shah, warmly welcoming the attendees. Following his welcome, he highlighted the growing opportunities in the pharma sector. Subsequently, the event concluded with a vote of thanks from Shanay Shah, President of Shalby Limited. Moreover, he praised the initiative for successfully bridging the gap between government and industry, thereby fostering collaboration for sustainable growth.

The event was a critical step in advancing Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s vision of making Uttar Pradesh a $1 trillion economy. We will create a seamless and efficient environment for businesses. Uttar Pradesh stands ready,” Mr. Maheshwari affirmed.
