Gandhinagar : Vadnagar Utsav will be celebrated every year said, chief secretary Pankaj Kumar. A grand celebration of the three-day Vadnagar festival will be held every year from next year at the historic town of Vadnagar in Gujarat, said Chief Secretary of Gujarat Pankaj Kumar while announcing in the concluding session at Mahatma Mandir today. Welcoming the people of as well as dignitaries from India and abroad who participated in the three-day conference, Chief Secretary Pankaj Kumar said that the this festival would be celebrated to showcase the rich cultural and historical heritage of 200 years old Vadnagar. In which a one-day international conference as well as a two-day international Tana-Riri cultural festival will be celebrated. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, the world-class experimental museum is taking shape at a cost of Rs 200 crore. As a result, all-round development of this place will take place and it will become an important historical place of the country. Archaeologists and tourists from other states, including countries from around the world, will also visit Vadnagar, which will create a wide range of employment opportunities locally, he added. He said that under the leadership of Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi, ancient and rich historical monuments and heritage from all over India including Vadnagar have got a new global identity. The Chief Secretary on the occasion requested all the dignitaries, researchers, archaeologists and students present to visit the historic town of Vadnagar, saying that only a direct visit can realize the 200 year old culture and heritage. In his welcome address at the closing ceremony of Vadnagar International Conference, Ashwini Kumar, Principal Secretary, State Department of Sports, Youth and Cultural Activities, said that the conference, organized under the visionary inspiration and guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, would highlight the historical heritage of Vadnagar. He added that the three-day conference was inaugurated by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel in the presence of several dignitaries including Union Minister of State for Culture Meenakshi Lekhi and State Minister for Youth Services and Culture Harsh Sanghvi, UNESCO representative. Six separate sessions were held during the three days. In which detailed discussions were held regarding the archaeological remains of Vadnagar, water harvesting system, social, religious beliefs and archaeological research taking place in different places around the world. In which the townspeople of Vadnagar also joined. After concluding today, all the dignitaries have also visited the Vadnagar site. He added that during this conference, MoUs have also been signed between the Government of Gujarat and various universities across India. In which the culture of Vadnagar including Gujarat, Buddhist heritage, archaeological remains will be emphasized for research. The event was attended by Pankaj Sharma, Director, Department of Archaeology and Museums, Prof. Amreshwar Gala, Representative of UNESCO, Professor Robin Cunningham, Department of Archaeology, Lecturers from various Universities across India, archaeological researchers-students, Gujarat State Archives Were present.
