Gandhinagar : The water scarcity is increasing day by day in the state. The previous monsoon was also weak, and the government told that it was planning to solve the problem of water in the summer, during the water shortage. Today state Deputy CM Nitin Patel made clear the way in which some plans are working on water distribution.
He said that every day 375 crore liters of Narmada water is provided for drinking purpose in the state, which is 50 crore liters more than usual every year. Out of them, Ambala, Maliya, Vallabhipur canal, Pariej-canal, is currently given 190 crores of water to Kutch and Saurashtra, which is 20 crores more than last year. In Gujarat, Narmada water is given to 8911 villages, 165 cities and 6 municipalities based in Narmada.
In the districts of Saurashtra and Kutch, which had low rains compared to last year, there were less water revenues in the dams of Porbandar, Devbhumi Dwarka, Morbi, Bhavnagar, Jamnagar, Rajkot and Kutch districts, due to which low effluent wells have been recharged.
For the above reasons, the state government has decided to continue to give water from the Narmada canal maliya and Vallabhipur branch canal for drinking water. Both the branch canals are still operational, from which sufficient water is available to drink water. The Porbandar dam in Porbandar district is currently with water. The dam provides 2 million liters of water to the city.
