New Delhi : Rahul Gandhi had to face defeat in last parliament elections and after that Sonia Gandhi became the Member of Parliament for Rajya Sabha, it was speculated that Rahul Gandhi may contest 2024 election and with him Priyanka Gandhi may also be the face of congress from key constituency. Now every speculations have got full stop as congress has clarified that Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi will contest 2024 election from Amethi and Raebareli seats respectively. Congress may announce officially about the candidature of Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi very soon. The senior leaders of congress also wanted and also told Sonia Gandhi about the candidature of Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi.
In 2019 elections, Rahul Gandhi had to face defeat against Smriti Irani from Amethi seat at the same time Sonia Gandhi had won the Raebareli seat. This time Sonia Gandhi is not going to contest election because of health issues. Rahul Gandhi had won the Wayanad seat in 2019 general elections. This time also Rahul Gandhi is a congress candidate from Wayanad seat where the voting has been completed. Amethi and Raebareli will have voting on 20th May, 2024. The process to finalize the candidature in Amethi and Raebareli started from 26th April and will last till 3rd May. Congress may soon announce officially about the candidature of Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi. On the other side, Smriti Irani is also going to contest from Amethi seat again. BJP has not announced its contestant from Raebareli yet. The General Secretary of Congress Jayram Ramesh had briefed media regarding the candidature from the seats of Amethi and Raebareli which are considered as the key seats for general elections.
