Ahmedabad : In the time of Lockdown in India, there are lots of needy people who even don’t get even one time of food. At this time, many social organizations, companies, volunteers are on the toe to serve food to these needy people. But in Ahmedabad, Dr. Mohil Patel, who is a running a maternity home in Naroda area of the city is doing some unique social work for the needy and poor people. One day he got a call from a migrant labourer about emergency and he rushed to his hospital and did surgery, which went successful. After the surgery, doctor came to know that the migrant labourer will not able to pay money for her treatment. He also called his other fellow doctor, who was present at the time of surgery, not to take money from those migrant labourers. After this incident, doctor decided to feed such migrant labourers and other needy people. Dr. Patel said that, we started making Khichdi, with the help of shopkeeper and started distributing the same among needy people. Dr. Patel’s group started this Khichdi initiative, since 23rd March, 2020 and they started this initiative from slum areas. Migrant Labourer Arti Thakor, who were treated by Dr. Mohil Patel, said that in this tough time, this doctor didn’t charge any amount from them. Doctor’s this gesture, was surprise elements for them. On asking about Khichdi initiative, Dr. Mohil Patel said that currently they are serving almost 12000 people on daily basis. Doctor further said that, when we had started of Khichdi distribution, at that time only 4 people were in our group but now we have almost more than 30 people, who are in helping us in this unique Khichdi initiative.
