Governor of Gujarat Acharya Devvrat has said that natural farming must be adopted to build an Aatmanirbhar Bharat with prosperity of farming and farmers. Addressing the Natural farming Women’s Conference organized by the Subhash Palekar Natural farming Jan Andolan Committee and the District Administration at Sardar Krishinagar Dantiwada Agricultural University, the Governor said that the women of Gujarat have shown their strength through cooperative activity in the animal husbandry sector, while combining mother power in the Natural farming Jan Andolan. The state of Gujarat will create a new revolution in the field of natural agriculture. The Governor said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken many steps to make the farmers of the country prosperous and agriculture self-sufficient, not only that, he has called upon the farmers across the country to adopt natural farming. The Governor called the green revolution through chemical farming the necessity of the time to meet the food grain requirement of the country after independence. He said that due to the indiscriminate use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides, the soil is becoming barren and the ill effects of chemical farming are being exposed. He said that experts believe that chemical farming and organic farming contribute 24 percent to the problem of global warming. Water, land and environment are polluted due to chemical farming. The fertility of the soil is decreasing day by day due to which the farm production is also continuously decreasing. People are suffering from incurable diseases like cancer, diabetes due to consumption of contaminated food grains. The cost of chemical farming has continued to rise and production has declined, weakening the economic condition of farmers. The Governor considered natural farming as a strong alternative to get rid of the harmful effects of chemical farming and made the women farmers present resolve to give up chemical fertilizers and toxic pesticides used in agriculture and adopt natural farming.

The Governor said that in natural farming, sufficient production is available at low cost so that the farmers get financial benefit. The method of organic farming is simple. In which Jivamrut is prepared by mixing desi cow dung-cow urine-besan-jaggery and clay in water. Similarly solid organic matter is prepared which acts as a natural fertilizer for agriculture, it promotes the growth of helpful microorganisms and friendly organisms like earthworms and makes the soil fertile. On this occasion, the Governor explained the basic principles of natural farming, Bijamrut, Jivamrut- Dhan Jivamrut, Wapsae, Achchadan and Mishrapak. He said that there are 300 million microbes in one gram of cow dung of Indian breed, not only that, cow urine is a storehouse of minerals. The compost and solid compost produced with its help nourishes the soil as a natural fertilizer. He also said that forest trees and plants grow naturally without any fertilizers or pesticides, adopting the same rule in the field is natural farming. In this workshop, Vice Chancellor of Sardar krishnagar Dantiwada Agricultural University, while delivering the welcome speech said that research, education and extension work on various aspects of natural farming has been started by Sardar krishnagar Dantiwada Agricultural University under the guidance of Governor Acharya Devvrat. For the area of ​​organic farming, this university has started organic farming in 90 acres of land. He said that we will get very good results in the coming time, which will increase our confidence and passion. On this occasion, the women farmers who built a five-tiered model farm inspired by Subhash Palekar were honored by the Governor’s boon and the success stories book of the natural farmers of Banaskantha district was released under the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.
