Gandhinagar : All houses will get clean drinking water from tap by 2022, said chief minister Vijay Rupani. Chief minister Vijay Rupani launched water supply schemes worth Rs. 48.62 crores. On this occasion, CM Vijay Rupani said that various new water supply schemes will be launched in the next 15 days. By the year 2022, all houses will be provided with pure drinking water through taps. In the decade of Congress government, there was a scarcity of water in Gujarat – people were migrating because of that problem. Today, 80 per cent tap connections were given in the BJP government as against 24 per cent tap connections in the Congress regime. Development of an individual and a nation is not possible without water. Water scarcity will become a past and history in Gujarat, he added.

CM Rupani also slammed congress and said, the previous Congress governments only did launching of the schemes but after that the cost used to reach from Rs. 1000 crore to Rs. 2000 crore. When our government completes the process like timely approval, tender, allocation of funds for the scheme, the works are completed ahead of time. Saurashtra, Kutch and North Gujarat have suffered a lot for drinking water under the Congress rule. Water was available in 3-4 days. The previous government did not even bother about water resources so water had to be brought by train and tanker. By giving example of then chief minister Narendra Modi, CM Rupani said, when Narendra Modi became the Chief Minister of Gujarat in the year 2001, the Water Supply Board became active for drinking water schemes. Today in Gujarat, the water of Narmada, Kadana, Dharoi has been delivered to the people through water pipelines. Today in Gujarat, pure filtered, salt-free, fluorite-free water is available through taps so that people are free from limb and dental diseases. Gujarat has become a truly hand pump state.
