Gandhinagar : Ambassador of Uzbekistan Dixold Akhtov met CM Vijay Rupani at Gandhinagar today. Emphasizing on strengthening the ties between Gujarat and Uzbekistan, the Chief Minister said that Uzbekistan has been a partner country of Gujarat even in Vibrant Gujarat. When the Gujarat delegation visited Uzbekistan in November 2015, a delegation of progressive farmers and industrialists from Gujarat expressed interest in advancing in areas like agriculture, manufacturing, education but we could not because of the Corona Pandemic. He said that Gujarat is a leader in the country in the field of renewable energy, e-vehicles and smart cities and more will be invested in the coming days. As part of which, the world’s largest renewable energy park is going to be set up in Kutch to generate 20,000 MW of electricity.
During Corona’s time, 4% of India’s total FDI came to Gujarat state and foreign investment is still coming to Gujarat. Gujarat state has announced a new Industrial Policy 2020 and a new Solar Policy to give priority to Ease of Doing Business. The Chief Minister added that as soon as the situation in Corona eases, action will be taken to expedite operations to increase trade and investment between the two countries. Ambassador Dichold of Uzbekistan discussed the need for investment in Gujarat in areas such as IT, pharma, medical, agriculture and education. On the occasion, Chief Minister Rupani also recalled her successful visit to Uzbekistan in November 2016. The Chief Minister presented a memento to Dishold Akhtov on the occasion. While the Ambassador of Uzbekistan presented a memento of Samarkand city to the Chief Minister and refreshed the memories of his visit to Uzbekistan. On the occasion of this visit, Additional Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister M. K. Das, MD of Index-B Neelam Rani and other senior officials were present.
