Ahmedabad : For effective solid waste management in the urban areas, Chief Minister Vijay Rupani today requested the Municipal Corporations of the state to be motivated to produce cheaper energy and CNG through disposal of solid waste using bio-mining method. In this reference, he said that it is necessary to have proper management for the disposal of solid waste in the metros to meet the guidelines and norms fixed by the National Green Tribunal as per the needs of the time for conservation of the environment.
For Junagadh Municipal Corporation under the Amrut Yojna and Swachh Bharat Mission several developmental projects, worth of Rs. 24.15 crore, were e-launched by the Chief Minister through a video conference from Gandhinagar. These projects included water supply and distribution, including underground water tanks, total worth Rs. 11.46 Cr under the Amrut Yojna. Under Swachh Bharat Mission, a foundation stone laying of Bio Mission Plant with capacity of 15 metric ton at a cost of Rs. 4.69-Cr and project worth Rs. 8-Cr for 2.8 lakh ton legacy waste using Bio-Mining Method. CM Rupani further stated that renovation works of historical places such as Upper-Kot, Makbara, Narshi Mehta Lake and Ropeway works at Girnar would also be done for tourism development at Junagadh. Those who spoke on the occasion included Gujarat Tourism Minister Jawahar Chavda, Junagadh’s city mayor Dhiru Gohil, Municipal Commissioner Tushar Sumera, and others.
