Gandhinagar : Conference held between Gujarat and Sakha-Yakutiya on virtual mode. Chief Minister Vijay Rupani virtually participated in the round table conference held between Gujarat and Sakha-Yakutia Republic of Russia under the Eastern Economic Forum through video conferencing from Kevadia. During the conference, CM held extensive discussions with the Head of State of Sakha-Yakutia Republic – Aysen Nikolaev and his colleagues on the partnership between Gujarat-Sakha Yakutia in various fields of development. CM especially showed his keenness for mutual cooperation in diamond, timber and pharmaceutical sectors. It is important to point out here that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi is going to make a video address in the concluding session of this Eastern Economic Forum. The concluding session will also be attended by Russian President Vladimir Putin. CM said that earlier in 2019, at such an Eastern Economic Forum, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin placed special emphasis on regional collaboration. He added that Gujarat is also proud to be involved in the ‘Act for East’ policy formulated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for strengthening India’s ties with Russia’s Far East regions.

Vijay Rupani recalled his visit to Vladivostok with Gujarat’s leading business and industry delegation in 2019 and said that MoU of Business Co-operation was also signed between Gujarat and Sakha at that time. CM further added that the momentum of this MoU has been affected by the current Corona epidemic. He also expressed hope that the world would come out of this epidemic soon and a conducive atmosphere would be created in Gujarat-Sakha relations again. Giving a detailed idea of development of Gujarat, CM said that Gujarat, with 224 billion USD GDP, tops the country in sectors like Chemicals, Petrochemicals, Dairy, Pharmaceuticals, Cement, Ceramics, Gems & jewellery, Textiles and Engineering. Not only that, with the successful implementation of Ease of Doing Business policy, Gujarat has become the leading industrial state in the country. CM said in this video conference that there are about 800 large scale industries of various sectors and more than 35 lakh MSMEs working in the state. In the year 20-21, Gujarat has achieved the highest foreign investment FDI in the country with FDI of 21.89 billion USD. The Chief Minister also extended an invitation to Aysen Nikolaev to participate in the forthcoming Vibrant Summit with a delegation of trade and industry leaders of Sakha-Yakutia. Leading industrialists from Gujarat’s diamond, pharmaceutical and ceramic sectors also joined the round table conference through a virtual platform.
