Vadodara : Conference was held on the subject of Climate Change and Environmental Protection at M.S. University, Vadodara. Over 600 delegates from 62 countries participated in the two-day G-20 India Summit at Maharaja Sayajirao University Vadodara in Gujarat. This international conference focused on the topic of “Climate change and Environmental Protection” was inaugurated by her Excellency Shubhangini Devi and Mayor of Vadodara. To mark the celebration of the G-20 Presidency, organized by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, focused on ‘Climate Change and Disaster Risk Reduction: Making Sustainability a Way of Life’. “The convention is being organized on the motto ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ – One Earth – One Family – One Future to spread awareness on environmental protection”, told Meeta Rajeev Lochan, Secretary, Ministry of Youth Affairs, Government of India. “It is a matter of pride for Maharaja Sayajirao University of Vadodara to host an international conference on ‘Climate Change and Disaster Risk Reduction: Making Sustainability a Way of Life’,” said Dr. V K Srivastava, Vice Chancellor.
167 delegates from G20 countries, international and National scholars, international and national national delegates, delegates from Ministry of Youth Affairs, start-ups working on environment, research scholars, NSS members and students from various universities studying the subjects of urban planning, climate change and environmental studies participated. Dr. Vishal Gupta, Head of the department, Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, Sabarmati University, Ahmedabad, and Bhavik Ramani, Assistant Professor has attended the same event at Vadodara. Various plenary sessions were organized in this international conference. The first plenary session will be on ‘The role of youth and opportunities in the field of climate change and disaster risk reduction’. The other plenary session took place on ‘Research, Innovation and Start-ups Related to Climate Change’ with Bruce Campbell, Director, CGIAR Research Program on Climate Change, Agriculture and Food Security, Rome; Cairo-based climatologist Dr. Ajit Govind; Dr. Shilpi Kushwaha, Environmental Scientist; Rajeshwari Singh, Founder Director, Carvaan Classroom Foundation and Kautilya Pandit, Google Boy shared their views.
