Vishakhapatanam: Cyclone Gulaab will hit the coast at midnight. The landfall of cyclone Gulaab started at 6 pm on Sunday. According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of thunderstorm overnight between Gopalpur in Odisha and Visakhapatnam coast of Andhra Pradesh. The process of stormy winds and heavy rain has started in Srikakulam, Andhra Pradesh. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi reviewed the situation arising out of discussions with Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. The Prime Minister assured that Central Government will be ready to provide all assistance and for everyone’s safety and welfare. Cyclone Gulab in Bay of Bengal will move 25 km north of Kalingapatnam and Gopalpur for the next three hours and cross the border between Kalingapatnam and Gopalpur at midnight. The Meteorological Department said that the storm started off the coast of Andhra Pradesh and Odisha on Sunday.

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today held a meeting at Odisha Bhawan in Delhi to discuss the necessary precautions in view of the threat of cyclone roses. He said that the impact of the storm would be maximum in 10 districts. Patnaik held a virtual meeting with the Chief Secretary and District Collectors of the state. As per IMD forecast, the storm is likely to move towards south Odisha and Andhra Pradesh coasts.
