Gandhinagar : Human Rights day should be celebrated everyday The law department of Sabarmati University had organized a celebration of International Human Rights Day. Every year International Human Rights Day is celebrated on 10th December. Sabarmati University had celebrated it on 9th December, 2021. On this occasion, professors of the university, non-teaching staff and other admin staffs and students had actively participated. In the year 1948, the United Nations General Assembly had adopted the universal declaration of Human Rights, which are relevant even in today’s time. After that, every year this Day is celebrated on 10th December everywhere in the world. The professors and faculties of the university had discussed various matters of fundamental Rights. They had talked about the importance of rights, Human rights and role of media, HR and current society structure and many more. The HoD of Law department, Dr. Uday Deshpande talked about human rights and its importance. He also talked about the awareness about human rights in the society. After that other professors Dr. Shalini Sharma discussed the laws and how to avail benefits from human rights commission. Dr. Krushna Chetty from social science department explained the Dalit issues and importance of our rights.
Dr. Rachna Mishra had explained about various case studies on Human rights. Faculty from history department Dr. Jyotsna gave historical perspective and its importance in today’s time. Faculty from language department Dr. Manisha Chavda presented broader views about Manual Scavenging and their rights. Faculty Avani Bhatt gave practical examples of human rights violation and awareness about our rights. Faculty of media department Bhavik Ramani provided broader view on this important topic and role of media. He briefly explained how our media and films portray and spread awareness about our rights through their content. The whole program was coordinated by the assistant Professor of Law department Nancy Jain, Shweta Sankhla, Dr. Pratima Rai and Shikha Gupta. The program was graced by dignitaries like the provost of university Dr. M.M.Patel, CEO Rajni Patel, Registrar Dr. Aashish Chaturvedi, Academic Dean Dr. Parshuram Dhakad, Dy. controller of exams Dr. Jyoti Srivastava and Principal of Pharmacy department Dr. Jitendra Patel.
