Gandhinagar : Karuna Abhiyan started to save injured bird in Uttarayan. Forest and Environment Minister Kiritsinh Rana has said that under the guidance of Chief Minister Bhupendrai Patel, during the Uttarayan festival, to save the birds from being injured by kite strings and to treat the injured birds, Karuna Abhiyan 2022 will be organized across the state from 10th January to 20th January. Let’s protect the animals and birds together with all the citizens. A review meeting was held today in the presence of Minister of State for Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Raghavji Patel and Minister of State for Forests Jagdish Panchal via video conference regarding the campaign to be held in the state. Forest Minister Rana said that when we are all festival-loving citizens, we should take full care not to harm the animals and birds with enthusiasm during the festival of Uttarayan, do not fly kites before 9.00 am and after 5.00 pm. He added that by launching a compassion campaign in the state from the year 2015, Gujarat has made a good start across the country for the protection of animals and birds and has taken a new approach of sensitivity. Under this campaign, in the last five years, we have been able to save more than 9000 birds in the state through treatment. Based on the experience of last year, this year more than 764 bird diagnosis centers will be set up in the state as per the requirement in which treatment will be given from 9.00 am to 6.00 pm. This year all these centers have been put on the online map from which one can easily get the information of all the centers in the state.

Minister Rana said that for all these centers, “Karuna” WhatsApp has been activated by the state government on the helpline number 8320002000. Animal Husbandry Minister Raghavjibhai Patel said that the “Karuna Abhiyan” launched for the treatment of injured birds and animals during the Uttarayan festival has proved to be a great blessing today. During the campaign to be organized this year, 376 permanent treatment centers under the Animal Husbandry Department, 37 Karuna Ambulances and 52 Veterinary Mobile Hospitals will be deployed. Approximately 546 doctors and more than 6,000 volunteers will join the campaign. Welcoming the Karuna Abhiyan, Minister of State for Forests Jagdish Panchal said that the state government has been making sincere efforts for the last five years to save the livestock and birds through this campaign which has yielded very good results. The state government also saves the lives of birds by providing free operation facilities including treatment of birds and animals in which representatives of voluntary organizations including government officials and employees are also to be congratulated. Arun Solanki, Additional Chief Secretary, Forest Environment Department, Gandhinagar, Nalin Upadhyay, Principal Secretary, Department of Agricultural Co-operation and Farmer Welfare and other senior officials of Forest and Animal Husbandry Department were present on the occasion and gave necessary guidance.
