Ahmedabad : Let’s make good use of the light of knowledge, said chief minister Vijay Rupani in the convocation ceremony of Baba Sahe Ambedkar Open University. Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani called upon the youth of the state to make fruitful use of the knowledge they have acquired in development of the nation-state and realize the Prime Minister’s dream of ‘Aatma Nirbhar Bharat’ with their beacon of knowledge. The Chief Minister was presided over by the Hon’ble Governor Acharya Devvrat, at the 6th Convocation Ceremony of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Open University and addressed about 12 thousand graduate students through video conference. Considering the current time of Corona, Vijay Rupani congratulated Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Open University for using a virtual platform for organizing the second consecutive Graduation Ceremony and providing inspiration to others. In this graduation ceremony, 24 Gold and 31 Silver medal winning talented students, 12323 students including 1936 rural women were awarded degrees of graduate, postgraduate, diploma etc. courses. The Governor of Gujarat Mr. Acharya Devvrat congratulated the graduating students at the sixth convocation ceremony of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Open University, and urged the newly graduated youth to be committed for the betterment of the society and the nation. On this occasion, the Governor said that education is an area with which one has to be constantly connected. Getting education just to get a degree is not enough; the best success can be achieved only by keeping the student spirit alive by becoming more skilled through continuous education and learning. The Governor also instructed the youth to follow the path of truth in life and not to be negligent in self-study. The Governor further urged the youth to be committed for the betterment of the society and the nation along with the pursuit of success in life and asked them to make their contribution in the field of de-addiction, hygiene, natural agriculture and so on. He said that public awareness is essential to prevent the spread of Corona and urged the youth to contribute in this field as well.
Gujarat Chief Minister Mr. Vijay Rupani said that Let’s make good use of the light of the knowledge. He added that, this is the only open university in the state established in 1994 in the memory of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar. Since than it has been serving as a beacon of education, culture and goodwill for urban as well as interior rural communities. He lauded the university’s approach in providing free education to transgender, prison inmates, differently-abled children, wives-children of martyrs and people living with HIV. The Chief Minister said that this university has opened the door for those who have to travel long distances for education, and provided relevant education at home through more than 250 study centres. Mr. Rupani also said that in coming times, through digital media and virtual platform, courses like Fashion Designing, Diploma Course in Multimedia and Animation, Panchayati Raj shall be started to satisfy the knowledge thirst of people including the youth. The Chief Minister expressed happiness that in the current global epidemic of Corona, through online and distance education, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Open University is inspiring the students in nation-building by providing new opportunities for new knowledge, acquiring new skills, capacity building and career development at home. Education Minister Mr. Bhupendrasinh Chudasama was also present at the sixth convocation ceremony and congratulated all graduating students. He said that a bill has recently been introduced in the Legislative Assembly to strengthen university education in Gujarat. Now in Gujarat, Mahila University is also to be established, and Gujarat will emerge as an Education Hub of India.
