Ahmedabad : Chief Minister Vijay Rupani has given the names of Sanskrit language practitioners from around the world to create an excellent knowledge center for research and expertise in the Somnath Sanskrit University.
In this context, he said that in today’s time, the growing culture of English and Western culture, conservation of Sanskrit language is essential necessity. He added that the state government will provide full support to Somnath Sanskrit University for the upbringing of Sanskrit language.
The Chief Minister said that many languages are born from Sanskrit language. Sanskrit is the capital of our culture. For the year 2017 Gautam Patel and for 2018 Dr. Manibhai Prajapati was honored by Shri Somnath Sanskrit Gold Medal and Rs. 1 Lakh Prize in the program organized at Sardar Smarak. He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi played an important role in the establishment of Somnath University for the enrichment of Sanskrit. The state government is committed to pursue it.
He said that for the enrichment of language, the state government has mandated the Gujarati subject in Gujarat from standard 1 to 8. Chief Minister said that all the martial texts, including Mahabharata, Ramayana and Gita, are composed in Sanskrit language, it shows their importance.
Somnath temple and Lord Somnath are the main identities of Gujarat. The Chief Minister also appreciated the work done by Keshubhai Patel for the development of Somnath temple.
Somnath Trust Chairman Keshubhai Patel said that Somnath Temple is a symbol of national pride. Somnath Trust had decided to serve and enrich Sanskrit during its establishment. Today, Somnath Sanskrit gold medal has been awarded for the year 2017 and 2018.
He said further, not only the Sanskrit but its aspects are also needed to be modified. Somnath Trust’s trustee P.K Lahiri said that two years later, the Sanskrit gold medal is being given. This award is given to dignitaries who have outstanding contributions in Sanskrit and research. This award is being given under the Somnath Trust’s trust deed which shows a motive for promoting the language and its heritage. Somnath Sanskrit gold medalist, Dr. Manibhai Prajapati and Dr. Gautambhai Patel made an occasional speech on Sanskrit, its history and culture.
