Ahmedabad : The Sharjah Gujarat business seminar brought government leaders and industry stakeholders together in Ahmedabad to strengthen trade and investment ties. The event marked a key step toward expanding economic collaboration between Sharjah and Gujarat’s industrial ecosystem.
The seminar took place at Ahmedabad. The Confederation of Indian Industry partnered with Invest in Sharjah to host the event. Businesses from across Gujarat attended the session to explore global expansion opportunities through Sharjah.
Sharjah Positions Itself as Strategic Business Hub
The Sharjah delegation was led by Sheikh Fahim bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Department of Government Relations. He highlighted Sharjah’s strong focus on manufacturing and technology. Further noted that these sectors closely align with Ahmedabad’s industrial strengths.
He stated that Indian entrepreneurs continue to play a vital role in Sharjah’s economic growth. He added that Sharjah offers Indian companies a strategic gateway to the Gulf region and global markets.
CEPA Opens New Opportunities for Gujarat Businesses

I emphasized on the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) has accelerated trade between India and the UAE. I also would like to pointed out that Gujarat’s strengths in textiles, pharmaceuticals, and engineering make it a natural partner for Sharjah’s growth plans.

Panel Highlights Investment and Innovation Opportunities
A panel discussion moderated by Mr. Jalay Pandya focused on sector-specific collaboration. Speakers highlighted opportunities where businesses from both regions can grow together through complementary strengths.
Key discussions included:
- Industrial Expansion: Officials announced new freehold industrial plots and long-term lease options. Around 40% of Sharjah’s industrial land is already owned by Indian investors.
- Ease of Business: Companies can manufacture in Sharjah under the “Made in UAE” initiative and export tariff-free under CEPA benefits.
- Innovation Ecosystem: Representatives from Sharjah Research, Technology and Innovation Park invited Indian technology companies to use R&D infrastructure to expand into Middle Eastern and African markets.
- Creative Industries: Sharjah Publishing City Free Zone was presented as a specialised hub for publishers and creative entrepreneurs.

Networking Drives Future Collaboration
The seminar concluded with a networking session. Gujarat-based business leaders interacted directly with Sharjah officials to discuss investment projects and future partnerships. The discussions reinforced Sharjah’s position as a strategic international expansion hub for Indian enterprises.
