Gandhinagar : VISHWAS, which helped to solve more than 3000 cases. Under VISWAS (Video Integration and State Wide Advanced Security) project, 7000+ CCTV cameras & state-of-the-art traffic management system has been installed at 34 district headquarters’ which is known as ‘Netram’ (Command & Control Center), 6 pilgrimage places and Statue of Unity (SoU). Earlier the home department had implemented the VISHWAS project. Under this project, there was a plan to set up more than 60,000 cameras at 41 locations at the cost of Rs 329 crore. Of these, 6,000 cameras have already been installed. The use of CCTV Camera installed under VISWAS project has helped in detecting more than 3000 cases of theft/robbery/Chain Snatching/hit and run/accident/kidnapping/ missing, post-incident investigation in the state. These camera have also assisted in regulating traffic in more than 1600 festivals/processions/fairs in the state as well as general traffic. Apart from this, CCTV cameras have been effectively used in more than 1500 provisions for the security of dignitaries in the state. Also, the detection rate of robbery cases has been increased by about 6% and the number of arrests of rioters has been increased by about 3%.
As a result of CCTV Camera’s Traffic Management System installed under VISWAS project as well as other effective road safety measures, the number of road accident cases in the state has dropped by approximately 19% in 2021. During this period, the number of road accident injuries has dropped by approximately 21% and deaths by approximately 7%. On 15th June, 2022, Ashish Bhatia, DG & HoPF, Gujarat State has awarded the district’s ‘Netram’ team who had done excellent work in ‘SHODH’ and ‘MARG SURAKSHA’ category for the 1st quarter of 2022 under VISWAS Project. Narasimha Komar, Additional DGP (Law & Order) and Chairman, Task Force on VISWAS and Piyush Patel IGP (State Traffic Branch) had also joined this event. They have Congratulated to the ‘Netram’ team who had performed excellent in both the categories for the 1st quarter of 2022 (Jaunary-2022 to March 2022) under VISWAS Project.
