Gandhinagar : Speaking on the ‘Mukhyamantri Mahila Utkarsh Yojana’, the Chief Minister Vijay Rupani said that the objective of this scheme is not only to provide loans at 0% interest but also to make womens financially self-sufficient. We have seen women working in small and big economic activities doing economic activities by bringing money at interest from someone for the purpose of earning money on a daily basis.
The ‘Mukhyamantri Mahila Utkarsh Yojana’ has been implemented to enable women to stand up against these adverse circumstances. Under this scheme, a Sakhi Mandal of 10 Sakhi, a total of 10 lakh ‘Sakhi Mandals’ are formed and a loan of Rs. 1 lakh is given to each Sakhi Mandal at zero percent interest so that women can earn and help themselves and their families financially. The loan for this scheme will be provided by the banks and the interest will be paid to the banks by the state government, added CM. Talking about the progress of the scheme, CM Rupani said that the state government has signed MOUs with banks including ICICI, HDFC and AXIS Bank. Loans have been given to a total of 6 women’s groups including 3 urban credit societies, 2 cluster societies. However, our goal is to reach about 3 million people through 1 million sakhis with 1 million ‘Sakhi Mandals’. Through this scheme, the state government aims to provide financial support to an estimated 50 lakh people of the family by connecting 10 lakh sakhi through 1 lakh Sakhi Mandals.
