Ahmedabad : The CII Gujarat Annual Meeting 2024 organized under the overarching theme of “Viksit Gujarat – Powering a Prosperous India”, brought together industry leaders, policymakers, and thought leaders to deliberate on strategies to propel Gujarat towards sustained prosperity while contributing to India’s economic growth trajectory. In this 2 days’ annual meeting, the current chairman, vice chairman of CII Gujarat state council had given roader view about the roadmap of Gujarat’s development for Viksit Bharat and CII has become a pivotal organization. In his welcome address for the Inaugural Session, Darshan Shah, former Chairman of CII Gujarat State Council and Managing Director of Hitachi Hi-Rel Power Electronics Pvt Ltd, described Gujarat as a land of opportunity and spoke about the state’s pivotal contribution to Indian economy.

He added that CII Gujarat has been instrumental in partnering with the state government to establish Gujarat as a beacon of industrial growth, catalyzing trade, and investment opportunities. He also added that, in commemoration of India’s 75 years of independence, the Prime Minister has catalyzed an ambitious vision for the nation’s forthcoming centenary, defining the coming 25 years as the ‘Amrit Kaal’, wherein the collective endeavors of the nation should be directed towards the realization of a ‘Viksit Bharat’ by 2047. The vision of Viksit Bharat represents the goal to make India a developed nation by 2047. This includes improving our economy, protecting the environment, advancing society, and ensuring good governance. In a historic stride, at the recently concluded Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit, Gujarat became the first state to unveil the “Viksit Gujarat@2047” vision document, aiming to achieve ambitious goals such as reaching a Gross State Domestic Product of USD 3.5 trillion.

Anita Kelly, Consul General of Ireland, underscored the importance of close Indo-Irish relations and emphasized her country’s commitment to supporting India’s economic success story. “Ireland offers expertise in key sectors such as pharmaceuticals, medical devices, and financial services, along with access to the European regulatory system. We have a lot to offer to Industries in Gujarat” she remarked. Mike Hankey, Consul General of the United States, reaffirmed the special bond between the US and India as reflected by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s historic state visit to the White House and President Joe Biden’s participation in the G20 Summit in India. He emphasized collaboration across sectors such as defense, environment, technology, and education.

CII Gujarat’s theme for 2024-25 – ‘Viksit Gujarat – Powering a Prosperous India,’ aims to spark new ideas and bring different sectors together to help Gujarat grow and play a big role in India’s journey to becoming a global economic leader. Under this theme, we will have 11 panels focusing on the pivotal sectors and areas of Gujarat, such as Agri & Food, Manufacturing, Education, MSME & Vendor Development, Start-Up & Innovation, Chemical, Textile, International Trade Exports and Collaboration, Policy Advocacy & Ease of Doing Business and ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance). Our concerted efforts shall be directed towards fostering Membership, Policy Advocacy, Membership Engagement, Media Engagement, and International Engagement, thereby consolidating our efforts towards the realization of our overarching vision. We will organize initiatives and conferences focusing on these areas, aiming to move Gujarat forward as a leader in progress, prosperity, and inclusive growth, contributing to India’s resurgence.

On day 2 of the Annual Meeting, the minister for State for SME and MSME sector Jagdish Vishwakarma addressed the session. By putting ‘Viksit Gujarat’ in the center, he elaborated various business friendly policies of Gujarat Government which can fill fuel to the business and because of that businesses will have a phenomenal growth in the Gujarat state. The policy for ‘Viksit Gujarat’ helps to achieve the vision and mission of ‘Viksit Bharat’ in coming years.
