Sports Desk : Kolkata Knight Riders lifts the trophy in IPL 2024 tournament. This was the third victory for the KKR in Indian Premier League. Kolkata beat Sunrisers Hyderabad in final by 8 wickets. The final match was played in Chepauk Stadium in Chennai where the Hyderabad had won the toss and had elected to Bat first. In the first batting, Hyderabad had scored only 114 runs which was an easy task for the KKR team to chase. On the response of the same, the KKR got easy victory by 8 wickets.
The decision to have Bat first was wrong as the initial game of Sunrisers Hyderabad was not so good and they lost all major wickets in very low score. The Hyderabad team had scored 114 runs which was the lowest in the all IPL seasons in the final match. SRH had broken the records of Chennai Super Kings in lowest score. In 2013, Chennai team had scored only 125 runs in the final of the IPL against Mumbai Indians.
Kolkata knight riders has already won IPL title two time before this. KKr had won IPL title in the year 2012 and 2014. Both the times Gautam Gambhir was the captain for the Kolkata Knight Riders. In the year 2021, KKR had played under the captainship of Eon Morgen but lost against Chennai Super Kings in the Final match of IPL. On the other side, Sunrisers Hyderabad had won IPL title only one time. This time KKR had played under the captainship of Shreyas Iyer. On the other side, Australian Captain Pat Cummins was the captain for the Sun Risers Hyderabad.
