Gandhinagar : Organic farming can be strong alternative, said governor Acharya Devvrat. The Governor of Gujarat, Acharya Devvart, congratulated the graduates at the seventh convocation of Kamadhenu University at Gandhinagar and told them to work with full dedication for the betterment of the nation. The Governor said that the Prime Minister and the then Chief Minister of Gujarat Narendra Modi had given a definite direction by establishing Kamadhenu University. The Governor also said that Kamadhenu University could play an important role in taking the development of animal husbandry, dairy and fisheries to new heights. Stressing that cows could be a pillar of economic prosperity, the Governor emphasized on the improvement of traditional indigenous breeds of Indian livestock. He described the animal husbandry business as an activity associated with economic upliftment and protection of human health. The Governor said that organic farming could be a strong alternative against the bad effects of chemical agriculture. He urged the successful students of Kamadhenu University to come up with the best model of natural agriculture with more and more research and original ideas in the field of natural agriculture and to make efforts for more and more farmers to join this method.

Gujarat Water, Supplies and Animal Husbandry Minister Kunwarji Bawaliya presented the development story of animal husbandry activities in Gujarat and the importance of Kamadhenu University. He said that the state government has expanded the scope of Kamadhenu University by placing dairy colleges, degree colleges in animal husbandry and polytechnic colleges under this university. He also said that dairy farming and fisheries have an important role to play in the economic development of the country.
Special guest on this occasion was the Commissioner of the Ministry of Animal Husbandry, Dr. Praveen Mallik grreted the students. Dr. Praveen Malik said that students entering the field after graduating from a professional university like Kamadhenu University are more skilled than others. He urged the graduates to sharpen the knowledge gained through the book through field practicals. The convocation ceremony was attended by Nalin Upadhyay, Secretary, Department of Animal Husbandry, Chancellors of various universities, university staff and students.
