Gandhinagar : Task force of doctors formed by CM for Mucormycosis. The epidemic of Mucormycosis has been widespread in the country and its cases have also been found in the state and has also been declared as epidemic by the state as well central government under the Epidemic Act 1897. Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani has decided to form a task force of 11 specialist doctors for the purpose of maintaining uniformity in the treatment as well single treatment formula of Mucormycosis in the state.The protocol and guidelines of treatment will be decided by this committee through continuous consultation. Under the guidance of CM Rupani GoG has started separate wards have been started in the all civil hospitals especially in Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Surat, Rajkot, Bhavnagar, Jamnagar for the treatment of such patients. Arrangements are being made by the health department to provide immediate treatment to those affected by the disease. The Chief Minister has also urged the health department to take special care at the urban and district level to prevent the spread of the disease.Not only that, despite the ubiquitous reduction in the number of injections required to treat the disease, the state government has taken precautionary measures.Due to which spread of Mucormycosis the state has been prevented. Following are the details of the findings of the State Health Department regarding the treatment of patients, age and gender in Gujarat as well as other matters in the context of this disease. Out of the total reported cases of Mucormycosis so far in the state, 81.6% patients are currently undergoing treatment in various hospitals in the state, while 14.3% of patients have recovered and 4.1% of patients have deceased. In terms of age group, only 0.5% of the patients are under 18 years of age, 28.4% are between 18 and 45 years of age, 46.3% are between 45 and 60 years of age and 24.9% are above 60 years of age.The prevalence of the disease is higher in male than in female and 67.1% of the total patients reported so far are male while 32.9% are female. Only 33.5% of patients with this disease needed oxygen during corona treatment. While 66.5% of patients did not need oxygen.Out of the total reported patients, 59.00% patients were found to have diabetes, 22.1% patients were found to have immunocompromised conditions while 15.2% patients were found to have comorbid condition.49.5% patients were given steroid therapy during treatment of corona while 50.5% patients did not require steroid therapy. The special task force formed by the state government consists of 11 specialists-doctors from various state hospitals as well as medical colleges of Dental, ENT, Ophthalmology as well Medicine departments.
