Gandhinagar : Chief Minister Vijay Rupani has taken an important decision to provide foodgrains to more than 10 lakh families of the state at concessional rates under the Food Security Act-NFSA. The Chief Minister has shown his sympathy to give the benefit of NFSA to these 10 lakh more families. As a result of this, poor welfare decision of Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, more than 20 lakh people will be able to get foodgrains at a subsidized rate every month. Not only that, 3 million people will also get all the benefits of NFSA. CM Vijay Rupani has given guidelines for these families to get wheat at Rs. 2 per kg as well as rice at Rs. 3 per kg per month.

As per the prevailing situation in the entire state, 50 per cent of the total population i.e. more than three and a half crore people are being provided foodgrains at concessional rates every month under NFSA. Vijay Rupani has decided to give the benefit of this NFSA to 20 lakh people from 10 lakh more families with the most generous approach. The Chief Minister has expressed his sympathy to cover all the disabled persons of the state, Ganga Swarupa mothers and sisters, old age pensioners under this scheme. Vijay Rupani, for the first time in the history of the state, has taken a very sensitive decision to ensure that the three-wheeler drivers like rickshaw-chhakdo-mini-tempo, who live in towns and cities, also provide foodgrains at a subsidized rates. The Chief Minister, while deciding to cover all the disabled beneficiaries of the state under NFSA, also decided that any of the registered disabled beneficiaries availing various schemes like Central and State Government Disability Pension Equipment-Assistance ST Bus Pass would also be included in NFSA. The Chief Minister has also decided to provide foodgrains at a concessional rate to the senior citizens who are getting pension in this scheme of the Central and State Government under the old age pension scheme.
