Gandhinagar : After passing the bill by the President Ramnath Kovind, Gujarat has become the first state to give reservation to the poor from general caste. Now, on a financial basis, reservation will be given to the poor. This reservation will apply to educational institutions and jobs.
President Ramnath Kovind has approved the special provision for giving 10 percent reservation to government jobs and education to economically weaker sections of the general category. The notification issued by the Central Law and Justice Ministry on Saturday said that the President’s approval has been received in the Constitution (103th Amendment) Act, 2019.

The Constitution (103th Amendment) Act has been amended in Article 15 and 16 of the Constitution. A provision has been added through this which allows the state to make special provisions for the promotion of some of the economically weaker sections of the citizens. This special provision is linked to the admission in educational institutions including private academic institutions, whether they are supported by the government or not.
