Gandhinagar : Heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected in Saurashtra-Kutch and South Gujarat region from July 13 to 17. Necessary instructions have been issued to the administration to evacuate from these low-lying areas in advance, said relief commissioner and revenue secretary P.Swaroop. Today at SEOC, Gandhinagar, Relief Commissioner and Revenue Secretary P. Swaroop had organized a meeting of the Weather Watch Group. The relief commissioner said that as per the forecast of the meteorological department, heavy rains will hit Dwarka, Jamnagar, Rajkot, Morbi and Kutch districts of Saurashtra and Chhotaudepur, Bharuch, Narmada, Surat, Tapi, Dang, Navsari and Valsad districts of South Gujarat from July 13 to July 17. There is a possibility of heavy rain. Migration will be carried out from these districts to the uplands. Appreciating the relief work being carried out by the administration, NDRF and SDRF teams in case of heavy rains in the state, he said that Amreli-1, Banaskantha-1, Bharuch-1, Bhavnagar-1, Devbhoomi Dwarka-1, Girsomnath -1, Jamnagar-1, Junagadh-1, Kutch-1, Narmada-1, Navsari-2, Rajkot-1, Surat-1 and Tapi-1 NDRF total 12 teams have been deployed. While due to heavy rain Chhota Udepur-1, Narmada-1, Anand-1, Bharuch-2, Chhotaudepur-1, Dang-1, Girsomnath-2, Jamnagar-1, Kheda-2, Morbi-1, Narmada-1, Patan -1, Porbandar-1, Surendranagar-, Tapi-1, thus a total of 16 platoon of SDRF has been deployed.
The relief commissioner said that as on July 11 this year, kharif crops have been planted in an estimated area of 44,36,980 hectares in the state. Currently sowing in districts affected by heavy rains. Giving details of reservoirs in the state, he said that 159404 MCFT was installed in Sardar Sarovar reservoir. Manorama Mohanty, Director, Meteorological Department, gave details of possible rains in Gujarat in the near future. In this meeting, the Director of Relief, C.C. Patel, as well as senior officials from concerned departments including Energy, Road-Building, GSRTC, CWC, ISRO, Coast Guard, Panchayat Department, Fisheries, Agriculture-Animal Husbandry, Forest, NDRF, SDRF, GMB, GSDMA and Fire were present.
