Gandhinagar : New approach of interceptor van with Speed Gun allotted to all the districts. Under the Gujarat Road Safety Fund, the Home Department has provided 48 interceptor vehicles and 42 Highway Patrol vehicles, including First Response Vehicle and Rescue Vehicle, to the Gujarat Police for patrolling on the main highways to prevent accidents due to over speeding. These vehicles have been flagged off from Gandhinagar today by Home Minister Harsh Sanghvi. Home Minister Harsh Sanghvi said that new approach has been adopted and a good interceptor van has been prepared by Gujarat Police with radar speed guns equipped with state-of-the-art equipment to prevent accidents due to over speed. Such vans have been handed over to various districts today. Highway Patrol vehicles have also been provided in various cities and districts to evacuate the injured by breaking or cutting the doors of the vehicles and to be useful to the citizens during natural calamities. He added that in the near future, to equip the police department, about 1,100 different types of vehicles with different facilities such as vehicles, two-wheelers and other vehicles would be procured as per the requirement.

With the new approach, the 48 interceptor vans handed over to Gujarat Police have been designed with high quality reflective safety strips and signage and Gujarat Police logs. The van is also equipped with state-of-the-art laser speed gun, PTZ camera, public address system, mobile network video recorder, fire extinguisher and first aid box. This van is meant to control over speed vehicles. The interceptor is designed in Van Innova. The total cost of these interceptor vans and the technology equipped inside is more than Rs 10 crores. This van has been allotted to Ahmedabad city, Surat city, Rajkot city, Vadodara city and one each in the districts – a total of 48 interceptor vehicles have been allotted. The highway patrol vehicle will patrol the main highways in the city and district and act as a first response vehicle and rescue vehicle in case of an accident. The vehicle will be used to evacuate the person injured in the accident and move him to the hospital. Highway Patrol Vehicle Hydraulic Rescue Kit, Stretcher, Portable Emergency Light Bag, Steel Rope with Electric Motor, Hydraulic Jack, Wood Cutter, Roof Lightbar and PA System with Mike and Siren, PTZ Camera Day-Night, Achirch , Equipped with features like LED monitor, mobile network video recorder and rear camera.
