Panchmahal : Drinking water is reached to inaccessible areas, said chief minister Vijay Rupani. Chief Minister Vijay Rupani has given a gift of development works worth Rs 705 crore, he said that the government is making and implementing comprehensive water supply and irrigation schemes to make the water problem a thing of the past in the state. Just like gas and electricity in the state, one lakh Kms of grid network of long water pipelines has been built. Addressing a meeting held at Mahelana in Shehra taluka, the Chief Minister added that water has been supplied to Narmada, Kadana, Ukai, Mahi, Panam based water supply schemes and Chhewada’s house. In the last fortnight alone, Rs. Various water supply schemes worth Rs 2,000 crore have been inaugurated and inaugurated. To make Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Nal Se Jal Yojana a reality, the state government is working towards the target of providing tap connections to one lakh households per month and so far 82 percent of the work has been completed. By the year 2022, all households in the state will have access to tap for drinking water.
He said that earlier the total budget of the state government was only Rs. 9 thousand crore. Only Rs 700 or Rs 800 crore was allocated for any department. Today, only one Panchmahal district has been given gift of development works worth Rs 705 crore. Today, the size of the state government’s budget is Rs 2.10 lakh crore. Chief Minister Rupani said that at one time the people of Gujarat did not have access to clean drinking water. People had to drink salty, contaminated water. ‘Tanker Raj’ was running. There was widespread corruption. The problem of drinking water was ignored for years. It was not that the government did not have money for the people then, but it lacked political will. MP Ratan Singh Rathore, MLA Jetha Bharwad, Sumanben Chauhan, Parakramsinh Jadeja,Ashwin Patel, Senior Officer Dhananjay Dwivedi, Mayur Mehta, Collector Amit Arora were present at the event. People from 20 villages of Panchmahal also joined the online program.
