Ahmedabad : Isudan Gadhvi will be the face of Aam Aadmi Party for next Gujarat assembly elections. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has named Isudan Gadhvi as the party’s chief ministerial candidate in Gujarat. AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal himself announced this. Isudan comes from the Gadhvi community of Gujarat. Earlier there were speculations that AAP’s state president Gopal Italia could be made the CM’s face. Like in Punjab, AAP had conducted a survey for the CM candidate here too. Gadhvi got 73 percent votes in the survey. As soon as Isudan’s name was announced, everyone started trying to know about him. The question is, why the Aam Aadmi Party has made Isudan Gadhvi its chief ministerial candidate? How can you benefit from Gadhvi’s candidature? How will it affect BJP and Congress? In 2015, Isudan came to Ahmedabad and here he became the editor of a Gujarati channel. At that time Isudan was only 32 years old. Isudan started a program called ‘Mahamanthan’ during this time. He used to anchor it. This program to be held in Gujarati language gave Isudan a lot of recognition. Isudan became quite popular especially among the farmers. In this program, Gadhvi used to raise the issues of farmers. This program was most watched in Saurashtra. Isudan himself belongs to a farmer family. Father Kherajbhai Gadhvi still does farming. Isudan worked as a journalist in Vapi, Porbandar, Jamnagar, Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar. Last year, when the Aadmi Party started the exercise of organization expansion in Gujarat, Isudan left journalism and joined politics. Isudan Gadhvi resigned from the job in early June 2021 and said he would leave journalism and work for the public. When Arvind Kejriwal reached Gujarat in June, Isudan joined the Aam Aadmi Party. Isudan comes from OBC category. There are more than 48 percent OBC voters in Gujarat. The caste of Isudan is Gadhvi. There is a good number of Gadhvi community in some other districts of Gujarat including Rajkot, Jamnagar, Kutch, Banaskantha, Junagadh.
