Gandhinagar : ‘Made in Gujarat’ brand will be on lips of the world” said chief minister Vijay Rupani. Chief Minister Vijay Rupani said that the state government has taken positive steps to promote the development of renewable energy in the state and take it to new heights, as a result of which Gujarat is a leader in the field of renewable energy in the country. The solar policy was implemented in the year 2015 to increase the prevalence of solar energy in the state and provide affordable electricity to the people. Considering the unparalleled response to this policy, the Gujarat Government is going to implement the new “Gujarat Solar Power Policy 2021” to ensure clean, environmental friendly and sustainable energy in the state.
The Chief Minister said that as a result of this new solar policy, the production cost of industrialists will go down due to increase in consumption and production of solar energy in the state. The Chief Minister announced the new policy of the state in the presence of Energy Minister Saurabh Patel in Gandhinagar. Chief Minister Vijay Rupani further clarified the approach of the new policy, saying that solar energy would result in reduction of coal based power generation as a conventional energy source and promotion of environment friendly – green clean energy production. Chief Minister Vijay Rupani added that Gujarat model is also proving to be important in the field of solar energy generation. Taking this approach forward, the state government has taken this important decision to make Gujarat a green energy hub through the creation of green and clean energy. As a result of which this new Gujarat Solar Policy-2021 has been announced which I am confident that will set a new expectation for the country in the coming time in renewable energy.

The Chief Minister added that the energy generated by the consumers will be procured by the state government after their consumption. The additional energy will then be procured by GUVNL for non-park based solar projects through competitive bidding process at the rate of 2% of the average tariff discovered and contracted for the remaining 6 months prior to project commissioning which will be fixed for the remaining period. Along with the first solar policy in the country, “Surya Gujarat Yojana” has also been launched. In addition to increasing the capacity of Charanka Solar Park in Patan district, a 1000 MW solar park and a 700 MW Radhanesada solar park are also under construction in Dholera. In this way, Gujarat has also made a unique place in the field of renewable energy.
