Gandhinagar : Workshop held on Poshan Abhiyan in Gandhinagar by Information Department, Department of Women and child development and UNICEF. A one-day training-workshop on “Communicate to Advocate on Nutrition Campaign” was organized at Gift City, Gandhinagar to further familiarize the information staff with the methods of dissemination using modern technology in the current era. In which Director of Information R. K Mehta gave a persuasive speech about the objectives of this workshop. Addressing the employees of the Information Department, Mehta said that today in every office of the Information Department there are officers of all generations who have good experience of recruitment. R. K Mehta while clarifying the objectives of this workshop said that the state government has implemented various schemes for the betterment of people. The Information Department has a special role in communicating these schemes to the citizens. Important schemes like ‘Mukhyamantri Matrushakti Yojana’ launched by the state government to take care of health and nutrition of women and children of the state must reach to the public at large. It is necessary to create awareness in the society about this government scheme which takes care of mother-child nutrition from conception to 1,000 days. For this, if the role of nutrition is understood to improve mother-child nutrition, reduce child mortality and maternal mortality and reduce the prevalence of premature births or low birth weight babies, there can be positive results in the society.

Prashant Das, head of UNICEF, in his address about the ‘Poshan Month’ held every September as part of the Nutrition Campaign, said that the positive results provide special inspiration to the communities, thereby increasing the role of the Information Department. Government’s Chief Minister Matrushakti Yojana under the Nutrition Campaign is playing an important role in ensuring a healthy future for pregnant women and children. In this one-day training organized jointly by UNICEF, Department of Women and Child Development and Information Department, the current dissemination work of the Information Department and how to adapt more and more with the demands of the current time, the people-oriented work of the state government and nutrition campaign. Various technical sessions were held for better publicity. Executive Editor of Amar Ujala Daily Sanjay Abhigyan discussed about various aspects of good Press Note, ICDS Officer Aarti Thackeray talked about Government Schemes on Women and Child Nutrition, Social Media Expert Amit Panchal gave detailed information by presenting his thoughts on various aspects of social media communication and nutrition campaign. At the beginning of the training Moira Dawa, Communication Specialist of UNICEF gave an outline of the training and gave guidance on the widespread use of publicity including the role of social media in the present day. While a question and answer session was held at the end of the training. At the end of the training, a vote of thanks was given by Jigar Khunt, Deputy Director – Information (News and Media Relations Branch). The one-day training was attended by the officers-employees working at the Regional Offices and various District Information Offices including the Head Office of the Information Department.
