Gandhinagar : Integrated logistics policy-2021 approved by chief minister. The first integrated policy for logistics and logistics park has been approved in one of the more planned steps towards comprehensive development of Gujarat and building the best of the best Gujarat. In the Board Meeting of Gujarat Infrastructure Development Board (GIDB) chaired by Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, the Chief Minister has given approval to this new policy. This Integrated Logistics and Logistics Park Policy-2021 of Gujarat covers the entire value chain of logistics in the state and enhances various competitiveness in the industrial sector with a developmental approach to provide large scale employment opportunities to the youth. Not only this, the policy also aims to provide proposed support to logistics parks, warehousing, cold storage, air freight stations, jetties, ports etc. The meeting was chaired by the Chief Minister and was attended by Education Minister Bhupendrasinh Chudasama, Revenue Minister Kaushik Patel, Minister of State for Home Affairs Pradipsinh Jadeja and Chief Secretary Anil Mukim, Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister Kailasanathan, Additional Chief Secretary Pankaj Kumar, Mukesh Puri, Manoj Kumar Das also joined. Chief Minister’s Secretary and GIDB CEO Ashwinikumar gave a detailed presentation on the policy at the meeting.
Chief Minister Vijay Rupani recently announced the state’s e-vehicle policy just two days ago and has taken the direction of making Gujarat a leader in environment friendly vehicle practices. Today, the Chief Minister has given approval to the Integrated Logistics and Logistics Park Policy-2021 at the GIDB meeting. This policy of Gujarat has been made compatible with the proposed National Logistics Policy of the country. The draft National Policy aims to bring competitiveness in the economic and commercial activities of the country by integrating technology into an integrated, simple, effective, standard and cost effective logistics network as well as reaping the benefits of innovation and skill enhancement. Gujarat’s Integrated Logistics and Logistics Parks Policy-2021 has been formulated for the same purpose. The Corona pandemic situation has changed significantly in the last one year in the global supply chain and many companies are starting their business operations in India. As a result, this policy is timely at a time when investment in Gujarat, especially in the manufacturing sector, has increased and the goal is to have a large integrated logistics structure to attract more and more potential investments in the state and increase business-employment.
Not only that, in-depth study of cargo movement analysis, review of draft national logistics policy, study of similar policies of other states as well as discussions with state government and private stakeholders have given the final touch to the objectives of this policy. The proposed incentive and support mechanism has been set up in the policy to encourage private sector participation by making the logistics network of the state more effective. Accordingly, Rs 100 per cent capital subsidy for the logistical facilities and development of the new jetty in the state as well as the mechanism on eligible fixed capital investment up to a maximum of Rs. 15 crore, 7% interest subsidy on loans available for seven years and a maximum of Rs. The proposed provisions in the policy can be extended up to a limit of Rs 50 lakh.
