Ahmedabad: The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Gujarat, in collaboration with the Directorate General of Taxpayer Services (DGTS), organised a seminar on Authorised Economic Operators (AEO) and Manufacture and Other Operations in Warehouse Regulations (MOOWR) in Ahmedabad. The event brought together customs officials, policymakers, and industry representatives to discuss initiatives that can improve trade facilitation and strengthen India’s logistics ecosystem.
Focus on Trade Facilitation
The seminar highlighted the growing importance of efficient customs processes and regulatory frameworks in supporting India’s manufacturing and export ambitions. Senior officials from DGTS and the Customs Department shared insights on policy measures.
During the inaugural session, Sumit Kumar, Principal Additional Director General, DGTS, and Manish Kulhary, Commissioner, Ahmedabad Customs Zone, discussed government efforts to simplify trade procedures and promote industry competitiveness.
Industry Stresses Need for Efficient Supply Chains
Speaking at the event, Samir Shah, Convenor of the CII Gujarat Logistics Panel, said initiatives such as Make in India, PM Gati Shakti, and the National Logistics Policy have increased the need for secure, efficient, and cost-effective supply chains.
He noted that AEO and MOOWR frameworks can help businesses improve operational efficiency while reducing logistics and compliance costs.

The technical session focused on the practical implementation of AEO certification and MOOWR regulations. Customs experts and industry specialists explained compliance requirements and best practices for companies seeking to strengthen their supply chain capabilities.
