Ahmedabad : Delhi-Mumbai will have longest green expressway in India. The path to development of any state or nation is the backbone. Roads are being constructed across the country by the Central Government under the Bharatmala project which will prove to be a major factor in the construction of a new India. Today we will talk about the Delhi-Mumbai Green Field Expressway (DME) passing through five states including Gujarat. The 1380 km long Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, which is being constructed at a cost of Rs 98 thousand crore, will be the longest expressway in India. The expressway will connect the country’s national capital Delhi and the economic capital Mumbai. In addition, the expressway, which passes through five states including Haryana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Maharashtra, provides financial assistance to millions of people in Jaipur, Kishangarh, Ajmer, Kota, Chittorgarh, Udaipur, Bhopal, Ujjain, Indore, Ahmedabad, Vadodara and Surat. Will bring prosperity. New India has been conceived under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Work on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway started in March 2016. Contracts have been awarded for more than 1,200 km out of 1380 km and works are in progress. As an important link, 423 km expressway in Gujarat is being constructed at a cost of over Rs 35,100 crore, of which the contracts for 390 km have been given and the rest will be given soon.

Gujarat is the largest economic center of the country. Several interchanges are planned across the state to provide connectivity to other cities including Dahod, Limkheda, Panchmahal, Vadodara, Bharuch, Surat and Valsad. The expressway will also connect to the state capital via the Vadodara-Ahmedabad Expressway. In Gujarat, there are 60 big bridges, 17 interchanges, 17 flyovers and 8 ROB are to be built. The main feature of this corridor in the state of Gujarat is the innovative pavement design planned with sustainable design in Delhi-Vadodara section and concrete pavement design for Vadodara-Mumbai section based on climatic conditions to make the expressway sustainable. The 2 km long Extradose Cable Span Bridge will be India’s first 6-lane bridge to be built on the iconic bridge expressway on the Narmada River near Bharuch. With an iconic interchange near the city of Bharuch, the expressway will give a new impetus to the development of the country. Another unique aspect of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway is that various facilities will be set up at 94 places on the highway (Way Side Amenities) to improve the convenience and safety of the users in the corridor. The expressway will include petrol pumps, hotels, leisure areas, restaurants and shops. These way-side facilities will also have a helipad to increase connectivity and evacuate people in the event of a medical emergency.
